Intro

Hey there, im :Specialist:.Tom and I am here to try and teach you a few things about the non-SMG soldier.
U might think: "Huh?!?! a Soldier without SMG??? how then?"
that is what im about to tell you, but first the reason that i dont use SMG

The Reason that i dont use SMG
First of all, i dont like SMG. its true that we got Burning Bullets for SMG and no skills for other weapons but i just dont like them.
I like alternate class builds, counts for every game. in World of Warcraft i actually used Demonoly for PVP (but its mainly PVE class).
I found out that alternate builds can own the regular builds but you have to discover that for yourselff.

Lets get started with the Guide shall we?

As a non-SMG used these two Builds

Build 1
Dual LR shotgun
As you may think this build uses two LR shotgun's.
Random Voice: "but LR shotgun sucks, it fires so slow, the LR SMG is better.
its true. the LR shotgun fires slow. but not when dual wielded.
the idea is that you hotkey the weapons to two buttons that are easy to reach and after each fire u switch to the 2nd one and fire again. that way fire with a moderate speed, and if done well u can even fire as fast as the SR shotgun.

Random Voice: "but still i get low hits from LR shotgun"
The LR shotgun is Long Range (duh) so it will do the most damage when more then 20 meter away. you have to learn how to maintain that distance and then ur just fine.
i will scoop up on this build in Reply #1

Build 2:
LR pistol + SR Shotgun
The point of this buld:
- the LR pistol is more accurate then both the LR shotgun / LR SMG so u will do nice damage on long range. and if u get supprised by a commando or someone that comes around a corner u can quickly deal lots of dmg with ur SR shotgun.

He is back the Random Voice: "But u still miss out on Burning bullets"
True, true, but both the LR Pistol and SR shotgun can outdamage a SMG even with Burning Bullets. why u ask? well on long distance the SMG fires 30 rounds but only 10+ hit. during the time ur hit for the 3rd time u take cover and then its only damage from burning bullets. the LR pistol fires faster and is more accurate. if u aim well then u can land 7 hits (from the total of Cool
with every hit doing damage from 10 - 20 ( u will mostly hit 15 - 20 tough).

Random Voice: "But what about the SR shotgun??"
The SR SMG does 8-10 DMG on short range, and fires 2 times faster then the SR shotgun (roughly) also 9 out of 10 hits from SR Shotgun will do 25-45 Damage on close range (non crit). but this depends on ur aim tough (just like with SRSMG).

Ok then. lets scoop in on both builds and how to distribute ur skill points and what is adviced to get on every level

Skills
As dual LR shotgunner u dont need Burning bullets. wich means like 1-3 spare Hero points (i dont know how much ppl put into it).
the skill build i will give concerns the levels: 4, 14, 30

Combat Medicine
Very important, like in every Soldier build.
When hero is level 4, your combat medicine should be level 2
When hero is level 14, your combat medicine should be level 5
When hero is level 30, your combat medicine should still be level 5

Blasting Strike
Very important for this skill build. Since you use Long range weapons its helpfull to keep your enemy's on Long Range.
This skill helps archieving that.
When hero is level 4, your Blasting strike should be level 1
When hero is level 14, your Blasting strike should be level 1
When hero is level 30, your Blasting strike should be level 3

6th Sense
Helpfull, lets you know where your enemy's are at. and is helpfull when throwing grenades. because u can c trough walls with this (some noobs may call u wallhacker)
When hero is level 4, your 6th sense should be level 0
When hero is level 14, your 6th sense should be level 1
When hero is level 30, your 6th sense should be level 1

Grenade Spam
Pretty helpfull, throw a bunch of grenades to ur enemy's to damage them and then draw out your shotty's. can deal a nice amount of damage but beware of gunners with IEG.
When hero is level 4, your Grenade spam should be level 0
When hero is level 14, your Grenade Spam should be level 1
When hero is level 30, your Grenade Spam should be level 3

Total skill points used on level 30 is 11. gives u 4 spare points.
here is what you can do with them:
Max out BS:
Hurl enemy to FAR-FAR-AWAY (Shrek 3) if you like this use it

Make 6th sense higher:
Lasts longer and slightly less Cooldown

Make Grenade Spam max:
Throw More grenades to your enemy's for more DPS (Damage Per Second)
can be helpfull in groups.

or a combination of these.


Versus Others
What to do when your up against others and not the Cardboard Figures in the tutorial?
i will explain what u can do when ur up against each class, but u need a little bit of brains too.

Versus Commando
The sneaks of the game. their devided in two sub classes. the Knifer and the Camper.. sorry the Sniper.

Versus Knifer
Here is what many soldiers do (i play knifer sometimes, mostly Dual knife mando name: AngelicStabz for those interested).
As soon they hear the Woosh sound they spam their Blasting strike. but this isnt always the answer. the mando can be smart and not stab u when u cast it. this way he remains in stealth and you have Blasting strike on Cooldown, wide open with Long range weapons.

What i do. wait for the first stabbing sound. you need keen ears for this. as soon the first stab hits run sideways, hit the BS key, jump. the mando wont be able to stab u a 2nd time and fly's away without his stealth. open for your, and other people their attacks.

if mando is already out of stealth and uses Elixr to stab u. just Wave and use BS. then its time for Claybird shooting. easy. who said Mando's where OP?

Snipers
For this it depens how far the sniper is away and what the terrain around you is.
if your in the corn field in Seaside Skirmish and he is in the Lighthouse.. then ur screwed.

but if your in Watermill (Alpine Assault) and he in the opposite base on the hill then its no worries.
Hide behind the little building or the fence. put 6th sense on so u know exactly where he is.
throw Gspam/ Grenade and finish with shottys

If ur in Watermill and he is in the Camp spot in National Spawn area then try to take cover and try to move closer to him. since the distance is too big for either ur shottys or ur grenade. if ur close enough do what i said up there ^.

So remember. if there are snipers in ur map.. stay away from open fields cuz then ur toast.


Versus Gunners
9/10 gunners use the following setup:
- LRMG
- SRMG
- RPG

Starting on Long range.
First find some cover. since you both can attack on long range. but do it fast because he will be closing in. SRMG is a bit stronger then LR so he wants to get close.
he wants to use Keg RPG combo. if he does take that cover u found. since it cant blast trough walls.
Hurl grenade + Gspam to him and fire ur shotguns. if he gets too close use Blasting strike when he is in mid air and uses parachute look to your ammo. is it below 2 (for normals) reload quicly and in mean time throw grenade where the gunner is gonna land. then finish him off

When starting on Short range.
BS asap. if toast if u dont do it fast, then do the same as up there ^, throw Gspam + Grenade to where he is landing and smoke him with shotguns

the trick versus Gunners is to maintain distance. wich can be hard since they got Leg-it. play smart and stay close to a friendly gunner. if you share CM with them they most likely share their Hero Shield and Leg-it with you.

Versus Soldier

Hell ya, Time to show those SMG users what non-SMG are capable off.
dont go ahead of yourselff. maby we got 2x LR shottys and so we are in adventage on long range, they still got LRSMG and Burning Bullets.

Starting on Long range.
Gspam + Grenade, to where is is walking TO. he most likely wants to get closer to pull out his SRSMG or he start to kite (moving from left to right aka annoying).
the Gspam + Grenade combo will do pretty much dmg to him.
Take out ur shotgun and shoot on him. if he kites predict his moves, shoot where he is going to. so he walks right into your barrels causing you to land a good hit.

Starting on Close Range.
Most soldiers think u wear SRshotty. so they BS u away. (saves us a BS Cooldown) if he does not then BS him away. Throw Gspam + Grenade to where he is going to land and take him out with Shotgun. Beware. he might go and kite. use the tactic i told you guys.

This concludes it for Dual LR shotgun.

Skills
Practicly it is very much in common with the Dual LR Shotty build. u dont need Burning Bullets so that gives us spare points for other Skills. only thing that is switched. is that on level 4 its more helpfull to get 6th Sense. i will explain later why (watch for the {})

Combat Medicine
Very important, like in every Soldier build.
When hero is level 4, your combat medicine should be level 2
When hero is level 14, your combat medicine should be level 5
When hero is level 30, your combat medicine should still be level 5

Here is what u can do with it. (this part aint copy-ed because there are some other combinations possible here)
Max out Gspam.
More damage. pretty much same reason as for LR shotty's

Make 6th Sense higher.
So u have more time to aim with your grenade and predict the movement of enemy's better

Why not max out BS???
Well most of the time u wont need it. because unlike the LR shotty build u can deal alot of dmg on Short range. u will only need it when ur shotgun has to reload so u BS em away causing ur pistol do deal damage or VS commando so u have time to turn around to shoot him in the brains.


Versus ???
Time to get out of those Low level servers with level 1-5 and time to start fasing people of ur own level catagory.

Versus Commando
Again I am going to Devide this section in two. the Knifers and the Campers.. darn i said it again, i mean Snipers.

Knifers
Wait for the knifer to get out of stealth. dont BS if he is still in stealth. he fly's away and shoot him in mid air with LR pistol. if he drops on the ground he can do two things: either he runs away cuz he knows that he is about to die. mostly he uses elixer. to do that
or he uses elixer and charges into you.

If he comes at you
Quickly take out your Shotgun and start acting like a knifer, kite around him and try using some knifing methods. walk sideways around him and kite kite kite. if u fear he is going to beat u or if u have to reload then check your cooldown from BS. if its long waiting then try pistol till he is either dead or ur shotgun is ready. even with pistol use the kifer tactics. but if you got a good aim with shotgun then he is ded before he stabs u once.

If he runs away
look around, are there any other enemy's?? if not then just pistol him to weaken him. u might not be able of taking him down but u can force him into using a bandage/ tonic and u have some exp.
if there are others around. focus on them the mando runs away so deal with others.
but beware. he will enter stealth for a retry.

Sniper
it depends on your location (again) out in the open + sniper far away = ur death. stay in cover and find your own spots not always stay at the usual spots.
once u found cover that can completely protect you from his sniper shots when u press CTRL. start 6th sense to see him trough the rock / wall ur covering behind. then aim with LR pistol and fire as much on him as you can. nothing much else u can do.
unless he is in Grenade Range. then throw a grenade + Gspam to him.


Versus Gunner
Again im going to say that most of the gunners use this setup:
-LRMG
-SRMG
-RPG

Here ill explain how you should own them Razz

Starting on Long Range.

Get cover, dont stay out in the open, use 6th sense to see where he is going to and hurl Gspam + Grenade at him. then fire with ur LR pistol to him. this will land great hits. watch out for his Keg + RPG combo. get behind cover or try to BS the Keg away. if he gets too close or has Leg-it still going use BS to make him shoot with SRMG while he is on LR. making him walk back slowly and you can blast him with your LR pistol again. if however he manages to get close again. get ur SR shotty and Kite like u never Kited B4.

Starting on Short Range.
Is his leg it on? use BS and shoot him with pistol while he fly's, it can be that he try's to throw a KEG to u while he is not struck by BS yet. this causes the KEG to fly with him not harming you at all.
throw grenades infront of you so when he comes charging again he gets hit by them.
then finish with SR shotty and Kite alot.

Versus Soldier
Once again. time to show that SMG-users what we non-SMG soldiers are made of.

Starting on Long range.
There are Noobs that camp with LRSMG + BB. but we know how to defend ourselves.
Get cover and remove BB. use 6th sense and throw grenade + Gspam to where he is at.
then check if he is going to move to a more open spot so he can shoot you. if he doesnt try to shoot with LR pistol and take cover then you are taking fire, do not, i repeat, do not shoot ur clip empty till u take cover. he might get a better aim at you and finish you off. throw frequently a grenade to him and you can kill him.

Starting on Close range.
Check ur Shotgun's Ammo. is it below 8? then reload. but before u reload BS the soldier away. and then take out your pistol. shoot him with pistol and frequently throw grenades to where he is walking to. also Kite kite kite.
if ammo is full go kite around him. good SR shotgun shots should deal about 30 - 50 dmg each shot killing him in 3 -4 hits.
why not go at him with 8 ammo in ur clip? well there is a chance that you miss. be on the save side and go with 12 shots.

Weapons and Keybinds

Keybinds
Someone asked me: "What keybinds do you use?
so im going to answer it.

Dual LR shotgun bindings

Explanation
Q + E for the shotguns.
simply because their right next to your movement keys (WASD) so easely to reach while clicking. i tryed with M3/ M4 (two buttons on the side of my mouse) but i found that Q and E respond faster making it easyer to control

3 Combat Medicine
Again its just easy to reach. its right above E so while switching from first to 2nd shotty you can flip you finger upwards, just a little bit, and you will also heal while still being able of switching your weapons and fireing.

4 Bills Bomb
again just easy to reach. for fast selects and throws. nothing else to say about it

Z 6th sense
Mostly you wont need it during combat. its still easy to reach but not that needed (u mostly use it while in cover or out of combat so you have plenty of time to move ur finger there.

X Grenade Spam
Easy to reach with your thumb. you will be using it in fights alot to deal more damage.

C Blasting Strike
Important skill and its very easy to reach with ur thumb. since (at least for me) your thumb rests between alt and the space and C is right above that. keep on blasting those mando's away


Keybinds for LR pistol + SR shotgun

Q + E
I just like to use Q and E for my weapons. i can switch fast for if a mando suddenly trys to stab me or when a person is on long range.

3 combat medicine
the same reason, 3 easy to reach.

4 Bills bomb
same reason easy to reach... what else can i say.

Z 6th sense
and again... same reason (i can retype everything i said above but then it would get boring, from here on it is something new)

X Blasting strike
Because of your SR shotgun you are better then LR with close combat. that is why we switched Blasting strike with Grenade Spam

C Grenade spam
With this setup i found that im using grenade + Gspam alot more. so i decided to put Gspam on C for easy access. but if you prefer the way things are set up with the Dual LR then you can also follow that.

Weapons

Weapons i bought with 700 free BF from Gunclub
SR Shotgun (normal)
2x LR shotgun (normal)
Bills Bomb (normal)

Here ill describe what weapons you should get (wich is not that hard)
Also ill provide images with the data / cost from each weapon that i describe.

Pistols
What LR pistol Should i take??
Normal Pistol:
- Harry's Hand Cannon
- Gerhart's Greatest

These two pistols will be fine for use. if you work on your aim then you will find that the 8 bullets is enough, but if you have the money or just want to be on the save side with 11 rounds then you can go with the Super/ Uber ones.

Shotguns
What LR Shotgun to take??
This is an easy answer, since the LR Shotgun build concerns Dual LR shotgun u simply take each from every faction:
- (Stolen) Slugger
- (Petrified) Uwe's Overpowered

Both have the same statics. again it depends on your aim wich version ur gonna take, the normal or super/ uber ones. i say start with the normal ones. having 8 rounds each weapon makes u wanna aim better because u have only 16 shots. if ur used to this setup and have the money then get the Super/ Uber ones. they have 11 rounds each that makes ur total 22 rounds. so if you owned with the normal ones then imagine the uber/super ones....[/i]

Explosives
Before you pick one of the two available explosives there is something you must think of, in what kind of map am i going to play? With or without tanks. if you know that then u can make your choise.

Tank Maps
You can choose here. "do i wanna be able of taking out tanks?"
if your answer is yes then choose:

TNT
Its free and does a nice amount of damage on tanks (from 50-100). but not that helpfull in combat, but hey ur not defenceless VS tanks.

If your answer is no then choose:

Bill's Bomb / Steel Hand Grenade
Takes some practice to know how to throw it. but does a great deal of damage when thrown correctly. use in combination with 6th sense to throw behind walls. Great in Combat but ur defenceless VS tanks.

Now its time for the Pictures
here you will see the Accuracy/ Recoil(if any)/ Rounds/ Reload time etc etc. Their very big so could take a while to load. and again.. Thanks M1k3ol for making theses.
